Rosie has turned into a proper water dog. We knew that she liked water and the fact she has webbed toes was a bit clue. However she’s taken to romping in even the smallest of puddles like a duck to water. I’ve never owned a water dog before so it is fun watching her. We took her to a small pond where she could swim and that was funny. This was the first time she had tried swimming and she loved it. Each time she came out she jumped back in.
Of course, being Rosie she doesn’t draw much of a distinction between water and mud, so algae and a crusting of mud gets added to her slug slime. On the positive side, the weather is now warm so that must mean that the slug population will reduce and she won’t feel the necessity to single handily rid the world of very big and fat slimey slugs. Interestingly, she can smell slugs – I didn’t realize that they had a smell, although admittedly this is not something I have spent a long time pondering. She will go past sheep poo to get to a slug, and given that sheep droppings are generally regarded by our dogs as the tastiest of treats, slugs must also have quite a taste. Of course, she is a hunting dog, but I am sure that slug hunting is not supposed to be one of her skills.
We’ve been thinking about outdoor furniture. We’ve decided to make something as – hopefully – this will be a relatively low cost option. We’ve seen a chair plan that we like – http://au.lifestyle.yahoo.com/better-homes-gardens/article/-/7926176/pattern-sheet-wave-chair/ and we’ll be asking Disco Tony to cut the pieces so it will be like buying flat pack furniture. Wood, however, is expensive here so we may change our plans when we get a quote.
Oh yes, the sneaky peak of the new website won’t work as I forgot it’s not live yet and only I can see it. Ooops!
