Well, when we were listening to the news about the flooding in Cumbria, I thought I’d take a look at our blogs from when Carlisle flooded – http://mineralhouse.blogspot.com/2005_01_09_archive.html
We went to Carrefour yesterday to buy a new monitor for my mac. I got a 21 inch Acer for 120 euros, which is pretty good. The prices are getting much closer to what we’d expect to pay in the UK for electrical goods now. And what a difference it makes!! My old monitor, as I have mentioned, was in poor condition. Ian bought it for 20 pounds because the colour wasn’t great, and he passed it onto me when it became too bad for him. So, I’ve been used to working with everything in light pastel shades! But the big difference is the size – the new monitor takes up a tiny fraction of the space of the old one. We’ve bought it into my winter office (Ian’s old office), and rather than taking up half the room, it is sat neatly in the corner.
Surprisingly we managed to get lost coming back from Zafra. We thought we’d take the back road and have a picnic, and we were a little surprised that the back road had got so grassy and overgrown since the last time we’d taken it. When it came to an end in the middle of a field it was apparent we’d taken a wrong turn. I think that the shepherd walking his sheep was also a little surprised!
Nearly a two years since we found Sam – and must be nearly a year since his last fit. We’re not sure how much he can see, however, and I’m pretty certain that his sight is getting steadily worse. He currently gets frightened by the cats – which he has never done before. If one is sat in the doorway, he won’t pass them. He’ll happily snuggle up to the cats, like he has always done, it seems that he doesn’t like it when they catch him unawares.
Oh yes, we’ve put an answering machine on our telephone, so if you ring and a nice Spanish person answers – just leave a message and we’ll call back.
