Curry, pasties and cider….

Purely in the name of research, Ian and I have sampled these since we have moved back south. Interestingly – cheese and onion pie from Greggs 65p in Penrith, 85p in Poole, takeaway curry – nearly twice as much as Haltwhistle and cider – £2.00 round Halton Lea Gate, and £2.30ish here, however we are back to the Blackthorn again and not the Woodpecker that we were subjected to in Cumbria!

Other reflections on our return south – Bristol accents – where did they all spring from! Rabbits – not many around certainly not like Cumbria, could this be that there are more foxes? Lots of squirrels (grey not red though). Airballoons, we realised that we’d not seen any since we’d moved – perhaps because they might crash into a fell!

…and as for the temperature – phew! We’ve had the windows open and are still sweltering. However it is difficult to compare this accurately as we can’t compare temperature concurrently.

It was Ians birthday on Saturday and we took the dogs for a walk ‘en masse’ with Viv and Jims three labs, this time keeping an eye on Basil who last time he was out off the lead – completely out of character, took off across the field, not at a Basil lummox-lop, but with the speed and agility of a greyhound! We then had a late breakfast and Ian opened his presents. The theme of his birthday was definitely clothes and books. In the evening we went out for a meal with Jim and Viv to a place in Keynsham called Bar 19, which used to be a pub called The London. On sunday we met Ed and Emma, Susan and Andy in Bristol. It is Andy’s birthday Monday and we bought him a couple of ornamental cabbages. I could see he could hardly contain his excitement!

Ian took the volvo in to be looked at and we are still no further forward. He had headed back up to Cumbria to do a bit of freelancing and also to bring down the stuff we have left in the house, and he is keeping his fingers crossed and RAC card to hand.

Davy has stopped doing the hokey kokey in and out of the window and I have notice him use the cat flap as well as the window. He seems to be settled, but I wonder if he is confused as to where the fields have gone !

On the job front, Ian’s interview went well, but he felt he was not what they were looking for. I’ve not heard back from the Scrapbook Magazine people (last time they get my custom!), I realised that I had made a complete pigs ear of the application to the recycling people so will do that again.

Tomorrow all the dogs are at the vets for their booster jabs. That is going to be fun!
