‘Don’t be so ridiculous’

Alexa rather surprised us and Ludvig when she told him ‘don’t be so ridiculous’ – not sure what she heard him say!

We ‘think’ he’s starting to say more things in context. We think he says ‘bye bye’ when either we walk out of the room or when he is moved from one room to another. He also seems to tell Wilbur and Pixie off respectively for barking.

Unfortunately what he doesn’t do yet is tell us when he wants something – other than parrot pops, but I’m not sure if that’s just because he likes saying the words.

Happily, unlike poor Larry, Ludvig is very good eating his pellets. This means he gets a well-balanced diet, and while I give him fresh food every day, I’m hard-pressed to find any food he really really loves. Which is a shame as it would make training him easier. He does favour sunflower seeds, but I’d rather not treat him with those incase he becomes hooked on them.

I did give Ludvig half a pomegranate, and his cage looked like something from a horror film – with splashes of red everywhere. The pomegranate juice also made the bars of his cage sticky, so some feathers also stuck to the side of his cage – which added to the apocalyptic atmosphere!

Ludvig has two play times a day, and he appears to like nothing better than nibbling Ian. I looked at Ian yesterday and he appeared to be wearing a lace t-shirt, which I thought was odd. However on close inspection, it is where there were lots of little parrot bites all over it!
