Butt Cheeks

I bought some baby wipes for Horace. Because his legs are soooooo short and his fur has got so long, he is like a tiny mop head running round on the floor. And of course, he runs through everything, resulting in one stinky hound.

I wash him quite often, but he doesn’t like it and it’s also making his fur get dry and full of static. So I bought some antiseptic wipes for cleaning him with, mid bath. I read the label and there was a word I didn’t understand. When I translated it, it translated at ‘butt cheeks’ which just make me smile. Apparently these wipes are gentle enough for eyes, ears and butt cheeks. Ah, it’s the little things…

We’re taking some positive training action with Charlie. Over the last couple of weeks she has become grumpy. A lot of grumbling and barking comes from her, particularly when others come by. But of course, this also co-incides with her breaking her leg and having to wear a lampshade. She got an infection in her leg earlier this week, which meant she couldn’t settle and became quite subdued. So her grumpiness is very likely to do with her situation, but we decided that we’d take positive action so it doesn’t become a habit.

She gets protective over Ian, she grumbles if she is sat by him and others come and sit near. But she doesn’t do that with me, so we’ve tried to stop this by her now sitting away from Ian. She gets shut out of the room when she barks and Ian is going out of his way to only pet her when he is petting one of the others, so she can see if she wants attention, another animal has to be nearby too. Although we’ve only been doing this for a couple of days, the change has been noticeable. But this also coincides with her feeling better after the infection in her leg – so who knows. Obviously being blind in one, partially sighted in the other and being deaf means that wearing a lampshade makes life even more difficult for her. So I am sure that this has exacerbated her grumpiness – and she’s not even allowed to run round and let off steam!

I am sure she will be looking forward to having the lampshade off and being able to run around again – I know we are!
