Well, not sure why, however my walking boots don’t fit so well as they used to and at Christmas when we were going for regular walks, I got blisters under my big toe nails and the nails went black. Queenie dropped one of her chewing logs on my toe and the nail felt quite swollen this week and I asked Ian to take a photo of it, so I could see. However it obviously felt more swollen than it appeared. Ian said that if it got worse I should go to the doctor who’d drill a hole in it and remove the pressure – the thought of which sent me into a near faint.
And talking of toes, one of my older students is learning music vocabulary at the moment and he told me that his favorite music was Cumbia music, which, as I corrected him on his pronunciation – CumbRia, I thought was a little odd. Anyway, after further confusion about whether he also liked clog dancing – it transpires that Cumbia music is an old type of Latin American music which came about as a fusion between Spanish music from the Spanish colonists, African music from the African slaves and native Indian tribal music, and is hugely popular in many south American countries and is a popular genre of music in Spain too. My guess is that it’s to Spain what reggae music is to Britain? Here’s an example, and yes, it will have you tapping your toes in no time!
