We went to Viveiro (pooping nativity scene town) to watch their Domingo de Ramos parade. This translates as Sunday of the branches.
The Semana Santa parades in Viveiro are famous and declared a fiesta of cultural interest. I don’t think it’s of the size of the Semana Santa parades in the south of Spain, but it’s probably that little bit extra special as the parades go through the medieval town with very narrow streets.
A whole host of different types of branches were around, people just seemed to wave them around.
This was unusual being during the day – and there were no pointy hats around, but there are night time parades later in the week.
Statues
These statues were carved from eucalyptus and then cast in metal.

Beach
After we watched the parade, we went to the beach in Viveiro, which is another lovely long white beach.

Dimrose, being Dimrose!

…. and lastly, our neighbours escaped! The wind I think, broke the fence and they went for a wander. I’m not sure whether the farmer will bring them back, I hope so, as it was nice to see them.
