More driftwood…

Our driftwood pile is growing! We went to a different beach last week to see what was around. We have been to this beach before but just a peek, not really beach combing. This would have been the beach nearest to a house that was at the top of our list when looking at properties here. We gave each house a name, and we called this particular one ‘pit-prop house’ (not be confused with ‘posh-pit-prop house’), as a large part of the house appeared to be held up with pit props.

While we do have pit-props or supports here too supporting some of the floors, it’s not like these other two houses which had a LOT of pit props. ‘Pit prop house’ was very affordable, but would probably have needed some money up front to make it habitable – and because of the way our sale of our last house was structured, we were only paid a tiny deposit with the balance of the deposit due when the paperwork is corrected (which we should be able to implement now) and then the balance of the payment for the house being due by November – it would have been tricky.

As it so happens, ‘pit prop house’ was sold before we were able to see it, and we looked at other houses in the area, but nothing else made it onto our short list.

Anyway…. it is a very nice beach with lots of driftwood caught in the rocks at the side of the beach (but no seaglass!)

Ian picking up bits of driftwood on the right of the pic.

The second inlet in this photo (I think) is the inlet going into Viveiro (pooping nativity scene town) and we did see fishing boats going in and out.

This is smaller bits of driftwood I’ve washed and that are drying

And these are bits of antique Sargadelos ceramics which we found in a very short wander on the beach in San Cibroa, while we were waiting for the queue in the ironmonger to go down 🙂
