Sargadelos

The river that flows into Rueta beach by us is the Rio Xunco. I’m not sure where it starts, but it flows through Cervo and through Sargadelos. Sargadelos is the name of the village where the Sargadelos ceramic factory was originally (?) based – and while the factory is still going, it’s moved to Cervo which is a couple of KM away. There is a walk from Sargadelos (village) to Sargadelos factory which follows the rio Xunco where there are ruins of old watermills (which seems pretty typical).

There’s a museum in the Sargdelos village. This is the back of it:

…which overlooks the ruins of the old factory (I took the pic below from the balcony of the museum in the pic above).

We were particularly interested in the examples of the old Sargadelos ceramics on show as we have quite a growing collection of fragments of old Sargadelos ceramics which we find on the beach.

From the village of Sargadelos the walk to the factory of Sargadelos is along the Rio Xunco and past the ruin of several watermills:

and eventually the walk arrives at the factory – which is quirky!

There is a visitor’s center, but we haven’t been yet.

….And a New Beach

We found a beach we haven’t been to before, the other side of Viveiro. It was another long white sand beach – where we just happened to fill up a bag or two with driftwood! But not much in the way of sea glass. Happily, the best beaches for sea glass are our local beaches 🙂

I think this beach is a surfing beach, but noone was surfing when we were there.
