I had to go to the opticians this week, and when Ian picked me up, we took a little detour towards Foz. We looked at one of the beaches, which is the beach where the Normans landed during the Normal Fiesta a few weeks ago.
We then went uphill and found a little mirador where we could look back along the coast. I’m not sure how far we could see, but I am sure we could probably have seen Cathedral beach had it been a clear day.

We had a picnic sat on a bench by a little church and noticed it had a sun dial on the corner.

Although the beach at Foz looked nice, we came back and went for a swim at one of the beaches in San Cibrao – it really is very difficult to beat this:

This is the sea glass beach – so it’s already a favourite. What we like about the beaches at San Cibrao, is they are spread either side of a causeway, so if is windy one side, it it sheltered the other.
The beach the other side is the beach with the mermaid, so that is quite fun at high-tide to be swimming with the mermaid.
The beach in the pic above seems to have a resident cormorant, and he doesn’t seem to be at all worried by swimmers or people on the beach. It’s nice watching him as he dives underwater, but I realize that this probably means there are fish around ?
