We went to collect some more pebbles for tumbling. We didn’t go to the beach we went to last time as it’s by os Catedral beach, which gets very busy in the summer.
So instead we went to a pebble beach which is the other side of Burela, between Burela and Foz.
It is strange how this beach is so very different to others in the area where it is covered in pebbles – but it is nice for a change – and great for pebble scrumping!

This time we were much more discerning with what we picked and we tried to pick stones as uniform as possible to get better results and also which will be good for jewellery.
I am pretty certain we were finding quite a lot of amethyst. It’s more grey and muted than purple, but definately has the markings of amethyst crystals. I’ve put some into polish to see what it’s like. I have found what I believe is amethyst before, but there was a lot at this beach, so if it comes out nicely we’ll know where to go back to!
We now know to look out for the red pebbles which are some form of agate, so we picked some of those, and also the white milky quartz which I really liked from the first batch. I also picked a couple of larger pieces of what I think is agate to try to polish by hand. Just as an experiment.
And we picked a variety of other interesting things.
Yes, our pockets were bulging and I think if one or other of us had fallen over, we wouldn’t have been able to get back up again 🙂
Here they are in the pic below, of course, not all will fit in the tumbler!

This was quite funny – there were a lot of adult seagulls sat on the beach. And there was a ‘gang’ of young seagulls sat bouncing around on the waves. I wonder if the adults were watching them 🙂

And another sunrise!
