Here’s a photo of some of our tomatoes and peppers which are still coming through well. After a very slow and disappointing start, we’ve had not too bad a harvest. We had a few different types, including some yellow cherry tomatoes, which were more apple than cherry sized! I washed them after picking and popped them in the window to dry as it was a lovely sunny day.
And the next day it wasn’t!
It rained and we discovered we have a new drip!
Not sure if this is because a tile has moved on the roof, or whether it’s just the direction of the wind, however there was a lot of water dripping. Luckily the pan could catch most of it. We can probably use something to catch the water upstairs to stop it coming through the ceiling.
The drip in the bathroom has been getting worse too, and the ceiling is going mouldy so we need to do something about it.
This is the problem – there’s no sealing between the old roof and the new(er) one. And if the wind is coming to the front of the house then it blows the rain back and it drips through the ceiling.

So Ian has been thinking about different options, and it seems that the quickest and easiest for now will be to run a foam sealant along the gaps which will keep the water out. It also won’t be permanent, so ought to be straightforward to clean off the slate tiles if we ever did anything more ambitious with the roof.
Caterpillars
Look at this beast! (the brown thing hanging off the vine – middle of pic). They have decimated this vine and had a good go at the other. Hopefully the vine will come back next year!
