Well, of course, writing a Blog means that we have to write bad and good, happy and sad; we can’t just pick on the happy things to write about. Well, I suppose we could but it would give a very strange view of our life.
Now, I have been asked why we are keeping this diary. Well, it started on our trip back from the Isle of Bute, when we were talking about the breeding plans for our angora rabbit stud, Muffin and his lady friend Crumpet. We felt that it would be a good idea to write their diary, with Ian being stud muffin and me being crumpet. We thought we could put it into a web site and share it with family and friends. However after a bit of deliberation we soon recognised that it was not going to be great reading, seeing that apart from a bit of lurid activity on their first Sunday with us, they are in separate cages, with Crumpet spending most of her time glaring at Muffin accusingly. The story of her confinement would be a bit sparse, particularly as I don’t know for certain that she is expecting.
We had also said from time to time that we would keep a diary just to remind us of what’s been going on – for instance new lambs being born, worming animals, eggs hatching etc. We’d also said that we’d write a newsletter or something. Thought that we’d each write a bit and not share it until we’d finished and see how our recollection of certain events differed (we all know what a selective memory Ian has combined with an ability to twist facts and generally exaggerate points not in my favour!). I’d heard of Blogs vaguely and we thought that it would be a great way to combine all of the above. We gave up on the diaries of Stud Muffin and Crumpet – perhaps another day!
I don’t know if we can print this out, but it doesn’t matter really as it is like an online scrap book. It is also a great way to keep everyone informed and to provide a bit of an insight into life at Mineral House. And as I started off by saying – this is the good and the bad, happy and sad.
