We’re very fortunate that which ever direction we go in, there’s somewhere nice to stop for lunch. One of our favourites is on the other side of the river in San Cibrao in the ruins of the old fish processing factory. It’s quite sheltered, and the view is nice looking across the beach to the port.
There’s also a nice spot by the light house which you can see right at the back of the photo in the middle – however , it’s very exposed and it doesn’t take much wind at that point to put the picnic in peril!

Another one is if we go to the supermarket in the other direction.
Here we can look over Burela port and watch the fishing boats come and go.

I hadn’t really appreciated the difference in size between the fishing boats. I find that the perspective is all over the place when looking at the boats in the sea as there’s no reference point. However watching them go into port you can definately see the difference.

The little boat that I’ve highlighted is one we see a lot, so I imagine that this is a day boat. It looked absolutely dwarfed when we saw it go into port, and hadn’t realized the difference in sizes. The bigger ones moored there will go further afield and be away for periods of time. I know some go much further afield and are away for weeks
We had stopped at the next port along, however that was very exposed and we thought about leaving that for a less windy day.

We would have been able to sit on the jetty and have lunch – and either look back at the port or out to sea
