This week’s project is rubber stamping on candles (click to see).
I found some asparagus when I was out today for a walk. I was so pleased, it was a shame that it was a tad smaller than a matchstick, however I marched back into the village with it proudly. Shame it was during siesta as no one was about to see my triumph. We are still a couple of weeks away from the start of the season.
There is a real sense of spring around. The days are noticeably longer with daylight not from 7.30 to 7.30. We notice the time it gets dark in the evening in particular as we come out of class at about 7. Actually I didn’t go last Weds as I have been too busy, and as we were just learning names of clothes I thought I could get by with what I know already. I don’t think I will need to know the names for different types of stilleto heals again. Ian had me slightly concerned when he came home and announced that as there was only him and our Professora in the class they didn’t bother with clothes. No wonder he seemed keen to go.
Poor Hamish’s fits have been getting worse. He had a very nasty one Monday night, normally he gets over them really quickly but this one seemed to knock him for six. As an example of how quickly he gets over them, during one I went to the kitchen to get him some water and nearly fell over him as he had raced me out to the kitchen. However this one left him very confused and he really wasn’t himself for a couple of hours. We’ve changed his food and put him back onto the food he was eating when he was very poorly – rice and chicken. He didn’t have fits then – and we would have known as I am sure the poor little chap would have screamed. And we do know (I won’t explain how) that the food they are eating at the moment has lots of coloring. So we’ll see what happens, if he has another fit this week then we’ll take him to the vet. This has resulted in my getting very disturbed sleep as I only half sleep keeping a listen out for dog-having-fit like sounds. It is really quite remarkable how many things sound like that – even a cat scratching his ear gets the light switched on and Hamish poked to make sure that he is OK.
We’re also not sure about Hamish’s sight. This actually isn’t new, as right from the beginning we didn’t think he has full sight. However now he is completely mobile we are noticing that he really does get tangled up, bump into or fall of things so much more than the others. I don’t think this is puppy-hood, although it could be something to do with his abnormally long legs. It certainly doesn’t worry him – so if it doesn’t worry him it won’t worry us.
Nothing to report house-wise. No more stoves – oh yes, and to put your minds at rest the builder will be putting in flues for the stoves. They will go through the back wall and up the side of the house so the smoke goes upwards and not sink into the courtyard. It might not look great but I am sure it will be functional. The other option was to take the flue up through the ceilings as a chimney – however neither the builder or us wanted to knock though our boveda ceilings.
