Babbity has not been eating so well and had an ear infection so she went to the vet’s. She was not happy!
It turns out she has polyps in one of her ears (?) and this is apparently rare in cats. There’s not much that can be done about it other than watching to see if it causes discomfort. The can spread and if they do they can give her steroids to reduce them a bit. But for now she’s got ear drops to reduce the infection and then we’ll see how it goes.
I was surprised to see that Babbity is nearly 15. She wears her age well!
She was tested for Feline Leukaemia – which she was clear of. I was pretty certain we had in the house, albeit dormant in our current cats, and is contagious and incurable – this is the reason we haven’t adopted any more cats as it would be unfair to bring them into a house with a known disease. However, that means that both Primrose and Babbity, our two remaining cats, are clear of Feline Leukaemia, as Primrose was tested when she was ill a couple of years ago. So perhaps we’ll have a think about whether we adopt another – and if we do, whether we’ll look for another blind cat (I think if we do, the answer will be yes). But we’re not in any rush.
