The chicks are doing well. They are quite messy. They spend much of their time trying to spread chick crumbs around their box or splashing in water. We need to think about where they will go when they are too big for their box. They need some sort of run before they are big enough to go out side. I do feel sorry for chicks under heat lamps as they don’t get any darkness – no wonder they always look grumpy! I have lifted the light up a bit as they don’t need so much heat now.
Well we finally switched our freezer on and so far it has a bag of asparagus in the bottom. One thing that we haven’t considered is that the barn will get warm during the summer so we might need to get it somewhere cooler.
We’re still to really finalize what colours we want everything to be. I was hoping to get the upholstery fabric sorted first, and then we would match the paint to that. However it is really difficult to find anything suitable. I had in mind some dark-ish tapestry fabric. But there is nothing really like it here and I can’t find much in the UK on websites. I think because I am looking for cheap tapestry fabric – and I want quite a lot (about 40 meters) – I am not finding roll ends or really bargain fabric.
It will be nice to have internal doors again. We’ve had to build a barracade over the hall to stop the dogs from causing havoc throughout the house and this makes it difficult for us too. At the moment I feel that we’re a bit in limbo – however once the decorator starts I know that we’ll be on the homeward stretch!
