We had a treat last night. The cheese was for our anniversary, the champagne was from our wedding and the wine was a special bottle to go with the cheese – especially the award winning cheese on the right (thank you Jim and Viv!).
We were celebrating our anniversary and also the fact that I passed my six month review at About.com – hoorah! This means that I have finished my probation.
We’ve been thinking again about the house and have decided not to replace some of the internal doors – we’ll get them taken out and the walls tidied – we can get doors made in the future if we want to. So, all the doors from the hallway will be replaced, the doors at the front of the house will be replaced, however the doors in the living room to my office, and to the bedroom and from the bedroom to the dressing room and from the dressing room to Ian’s office won’t be replaced – the plan below makes this more clear (the white lines indicate where the doors aren’t going to be). Wood – and doors is expensive so that will save us quite a few hundred euros. it will also let us decide exactly what doors we need, given that we’ll be able to test how well the new heating works etc. Quite a good solution all round really.
We need to talk to the carpenter about this as we haven’t asked him for a quote for the internal doors yet, so I hope that he’ll still be able to do the door frames that we do need replacing in time.
We’ve drawn up letters and plans for the builders, confirming what we think is happening and what we need additional quotes for. Once these have been delivered at least everyone will know what we’re expecting.
