English Lessons

I am giving English lessons to a young lad around the corner. He is 12 years old and has been studying English for 4 years.

Obviously this means that he is now better than me.

The difference between possessive adjectives and possessive pronouns was one of the first things we covered. ‘Luckily’ all he wants is revision and I have his course book so at least I can stay one step ahead. I was delighted to find out that he didn’t know his numbers – which at least I do, so that made for a fairly simple lesson. I’m doing two a week with him, so we’ll see if it develops further.

Everything is now getting dusty. There hasn’t been any rain since our exceptionally wet May, and they are ‘watering’ the dust roads to keep the dust down and we see people watering outside the front of their house to also keep the dust out of the house.

Our rose tree which a few weeks ago looked like it was dead, has regrown all of its leaves. Our courgettes are very disappointing, however, with a few shriveled specimens.

The lady whose son I am coaching gave us a huge bag of veg and we are ‘looking forward’ to the door to door melon man in a few weeks. He doesn’t take ‘no’ for an answer, which is why last year we were exploring melon curry, melon icecream, melon pickle….
