Evie update

Evie is still with us and is drinking and eating on her own, but is still not up. I think her scour has stopped, which means she should now start to put on condition. She is still in the downstairs toilet, but I expect we will move her this weekend to the cellar. With the ducks who probably won’t be impressed. The ducks are getting easy to put away, as soon as they hear the front door they start gathering ready to go into the cellar. Of course, if it is half ten in the morning they get very confused. If it is dark before they get put away they also get confused – I wonder how good a ducks eye sight is in the dark.

Tam Tan is definately on the mend and I think he/she will go back out this weekend. Will have to break the news to Ian.

Had a set to with a man shooting on our land this morning. Told him he didn’t have permission and he said he didn’t think he needed it. He then jumped over the fence that we put up to keep the angoras in and it broke – hardly suprising as it was wood from old pallets and was to keep goats in and not for a full grown man to hurdle. He said he’d come back and repair it so we’ll see. It wasn’t so much the shooting that annoyed me, but the lack of courtesy by not asking, he also appeared to be shooting indescrimentary and in a hap hazzard manner, and I was worried about Davy and the chickens. He wasn’t a game keeper, I think someone who was more reasonsible firstly would have approached me if they had seen me, and would have apologised, and from our experience, would have been very careful not to shoot close to livestock.

The dogs have had a bout of sickness, a few were sick yesterday, and Henry kindly waited until he was on the bed. He was sick on Ians side of the bed, which, even in the depth of night I thought was making some form of statement. However when Ian put on the light and we found that actually although Henry had made a little choking noise on Ians side, the massive pool of vomit was on my side. It was with further annoyance that I stepped in another pool of Henry vomit this morning. He will be staying downstairs tonight.

Found Tiny’s brother yesterday saying hello to Debbies sheep. I got him back quite easily, however we are going to need to block up the gate to the back garden as it doesn’t take much for them to get into the other field through the fence along the railway track.

Got someone coming to look at Mavis and Gladys tonight as we are looking to sell them. This is because we don’t want to over winter them with Bertie and Gertie. No contact yet though about the ram lambs.
