We went to a bean fiesta on Saturday. Well, I should say THE bean fiesta – as people come from all around to buy beans from this particular area.
The town is part of ‘bean valley’ and there’s even a visitor center, celebrating the beans!

The visitor center included photos of beans

As well as a lot of traditional tools used for farming beans – we have loads of these in our barn – so perhaos we ought to open a museum!

There were lots of stalls selling beans and it was a good opportunity to visit a town we haven’t visited before. The church is the grandest we’ve seen here – and apparently was the inspiration for the cathedral at Santiago.
The chap on the podium in the photo below is an actor who was reading the words of a famous author of this town who was imprisoned during the Franco regime as wrote in Galego, refusing to write in Spanish. Galego and the other regional languages were banned by Franco.

It was a very pretty town.
Oddly, there was also a vintage scooter exhibition

The next day was a vintage car exhibition – it would have been confusing if we had gone then as our car would have qualified!
Full Moon

Had we gone to the headland, I think we would have got a spectacular view of the moon. It must have been a pretty big moon as the high tide was very high and the beach all but disappeared. Several people were dashing in and out of the water trying to catch towels and shoes which got washed away – so I am guessing it was a little higher than expected!
