There’s currently a program being run to collect 25 million acorns! This is to reforest the parts of spain which have become deforested (?) People are being encouraged to go into the countryside and pick acorns over the next three weekends.
This is the fourth year of doing it – the shame of it is that oaks must be the slowest growing tree, so it won’t be for many generations that people see the benefit.
