I found a pony…

I looked out of the window and saw a pony quite happily wandering up the road. It was early and dark and he was on his own so clearly he shouldn’t be out unsupervised.

We were pretty certain we knew where he had come from as we’ve seen him in two fields nearby, either in a field behind where S&A stayed or in a field by the train station. But either way, he shouldn’t be on the road, so Ian encouraged him into the garden of a neighbouring house. While the house is empty, someone does come in to tend the huerta and there’s often pepper plants, onions, melons etc being grown in there – so Ian did check first that he wasn’t letting the pony loose in someone’s vegetable garden. But luckily it was clear of any tasty looking plants.

We then needed to find out who the owner was. Ian drove round to see if he could see anyone looking for a pony and then we found someone who had the phone number of the man who owns the house next to the field where the pony sometimes stays to see if he could get in touch with the owner. Which he did, but the owner didn’t arrive until much later, which was a bit of a surprise.

Ian tidied up a little the garden and then went into Cervo to find the man whose garden we’d put the pony in case he came round and wondered what all the hoof prints and piles of fertizer were doing there!

Seaweed Quest and Driftwood Hunting

We went to a couple of beaches looking for driftwood and seaweed. Didn’t find any seaweed, but did have a good time looking for driftwood and found some nice pieces, which we plan to clean up and turn into something sculptural.

We went to the surfing beach in San Cibrao (not the one towards Burela) – not very surfy when we visited but a good view to Mermaid Island.

We then went to a beach the other side of Viviero which we have been to before and which has a lot of driftwood – but again very clear of seaweed!

We had a look inside the caves

This was from another surfing beach – just round the coast to the west. There’s actually a surfing school on this beach – so if we ever wanted to learn we know where to come!

And of course, we had a picnic! It was very windy, so we sat in the ruins of an old fish processing factory.
