For a village where vacuuming the pavement is regarded as a natural development from brushing the pavement and where mornings are a scurry of people cleaning their bits of street, it was only a matter of time before the latest village amenity was going to be cleanliness based. The latest amenity is a car wash center. I am surprised that they haven’t installed one before, but I imagine that this will be a constant hive of activity.
Actually, the latest amenity I think is a new fountain, which has been built by the new picnic area. The big project which the mayor had been promising was that people would be able to walk to the cemetery from any part of the village along a lighted road. While this might not include the most direct route each time, I think this has now been completed.
Another piece of building work has been the reroofing of the house opposite. I am glad we didn’t have anyone come to see the house over the last couple of weeks as it’s been a non stop whirl of skips arriving and going.
