Ians parents, nan and aunt have been here this weekend and we have had a super time as this co-incided with Ians birthday. Today we went to the Upfront craft gallery and I am now commited to learning more about felt making (felt jacket £580, ok so my rather unusual felt that I made might suggest that I have some way to go but even so…..). We also went to the Woolclip which is a co-operative run by some cumbrian women promoting wool work. We know a couple of them as they are who we got the sheep and angoras from. I have enrolled onto some of their workshops starting 30th September.
We ate out at Alston House, last night and tonight. Of course we were talking about some of Ians stranger habits (extensive and wide ranging discussion topic) and sleep talking/walking and getting up and, in the manner of a mime artist, feeling the door of the wardrobe were some of the key discussion points. It transpired that Ians dad, Terry, had also done many of these things, and when Viv mimicked what Terry did when he got up and would be feeling round the wall it was exactly what Ian does, and Ians response is exactly that that Viv said that Terry gave when she asked what he was doing – basically “er…” before getting back into bed and not remembering a thing the next day.
Ian had a lovely birthday, drinking bucks fizz at work, having a meal with his nearest and dearest…, although I must admit to being a little disappointed that he is not wearing the felt sheep tail* that I lovingly made him out of our Herdie fleece, (now just imagine how upset I would have been if I had managed to make the slippers – he would have been expected to wear them 24 hours a day!)
Chickens and ducks all away tonight – hope the fox gets the hint and goes elsewhere.
*Sheep tail because the only bit of useable felt I had was about the size of a very small sheeps tail.
