We moved Larry in from the bathroom to the living room – above Ian’s chair. This went remarkably smoothly. I was expecting Rosie to get over excited, however after a couple of minutes she was bored of pointing and little Larry was left in peace. That is, we left him in peace. He has failed to return the favour, instead regaling us with full throttled squawking. He does this twice a day. Once at dawn, and the other at dusk. I don’t think he wants anything when he does this – only to let us know that he’s still here.
I think that he will enjoy his new home. He is high enough on the wall so he feels secure and not threatened by the dogs and cats, however he can see what is going on.
We think his feathers have brightened since he’s been here. He is now very green, with a bright red undercarriage and yellow around the edge. He seems to have some turquoisey feathers by his tail too. We’re a little unclear as to whether this is our imagination – however we’ve both commented on it. I read that they can go dull from over preening, so perhaps he is preening less now he is less bored. He was kept in an outdoor kitchen before, so I guess he may have been a little bored.
Ian has had no success currently of teaching Larry rude words – which is a good thing.
