Our lemon tree was very unhealthy when we moved in. It had been covered in ivy and weeds and looked very different to the colorful lemon trees that dot the landscape. Well, after a little TLC, it not only started growing, but also produced a couple of lemons!
We didn’t expect it to produce lemons – in fact I guess we’d have preferred it not to, and instead put it’s energy into recouperating. But it’s nice to see.
Our orange tree has fruit too, but the grapefruit doesn’t. But it looks healthy, so perhaps this year.
This is the orange tree and the wire coming out of the window is because Ian has been mending the fence at the back.

He’s also been clearing out the coridor that goes from the front to back, separating the house from the barn. We’ll soon be able to use this door and make some use of this space – which will be great. The roof above the hallway is in a bad state, but not so bad that we can’t keep things down there – or use it eventually as a work area.

We’re still go get to this window! This is by the big fireplace, you can see the bread oven by the side of the window.
This area won’t really be useable until the roof is repaired, but it will be nice to have more space.

This is the undercover area at the front and we can now walk from the front to back garden!

The reason why Ian did the clearing is that he is trying to repair our strimmer. It’s 22 years old – so parts aren’t that readily available, however the garden is getting a bit overgrown so we need somethign. The plan will be at some stage to cement or pave over as much as we can, just leaving the huerta for veg, but until then, we need to keep the weeds at bay!
Here’s the gourds – still drying out!

And here’s a nice photos of the little ones having their food! Horace is inclined to scatter his food, so the others offer to clean it up for him!

And here’s a nice photo of Primrose. She’s up and down with her eating, but much better than she was. We know she’s got a bad tooth which is part of the problem. Hopefully we’ll be able to get that removed which at least will mean it’s easier for her to eat.
