Well, we had thought we’d been to all the local beaches – then realized that we hadn’t been to any just the other side of Burela. We’d been to the beaches further towards Foz, but there are some beaches that are just a couple of km from Burela, so we went to have a look.
The first we went to was actually a port. It was an old whaling port, you can see towards the middle of the photo where they used to pull the whales from the water.
I am guessing one of those buildings would have been a processing place. It looks like the port is still used, but can’t be for more than a couple of boats.

I turned to the right to take the pic below – which shows how rocky the entrance to the port is!

We then headed round a bit further and found rocky coves as well as some nice sandy ones.

You can just make out the Burela lighthouse in the sea in the pic above, so we really were very close.
Some also had the feel of the Cathedral beach about them – but without the crowds!

We also found another surfing beach, which had a great place for a picnic – so next time we’re out that way, I think I know where we’ll be stopping!!
