Did a sheep udder check this morning and without even having to look closely I could see that One Horn has udders. OH was the sheep who’s lamb, Rosy died during the summer and as such I had wondered if she (and Loofy who’s lamb was premature) would be earlier to lamb this year.
I am quite please as I also noticed yesterday that her shape was changing (they go triangluar viewed from the rear) – so I am glad that I am noticing the signs. My confidence was knocked after I pronounced that ‘that sheep was definately in lamb’ at which point Horrace turned around.
We’re a bit short of space as the horses are still here, so we need to get hold of some bolt cutters so we can open the barn. I want to bring her in as the weather is supposed to be getting cold this weekend.
We bought some colostrum last weekend just in case we had any premature lambs, and it means we could feed them immediately, and we still have the stomach tube from last year as well as ‘kick start’ which is a mineral supplement for lambs, so hopefully we’re ready for anything that comes our way.
Watch this space….!
