Owls and chicks

An owl appeared on our window cill again on Saturday morning. I had spent quite a lot of time earlier that evening trying to photograph them, and I wonder if they wre trying to get their own back!

Having thought we had the chicks under control we had a hen turn up this afternoon with 8 newly hatched chicks. We don’t have as many as we feared though as think that the chicks were just getting recycled amongst the mums. Funny Grey Head is the worst mother, putting herself away at night and leaving her little ones under the shed. Pysco mum was let out on Friday with her chicks, but a couple died. I don’t think that they were well, as they were the same age as our other chicks, but a fraction of the size.

We’ve done more packing – well turning boxes out and marvelling at the number of single shoes that we’ve been finding.

We have bought a video camera so we can record our house buying, thinking that this will be a useful way of remembering what we have seen, and essential if we need to go seperately. So far we have only taken pictures of chickens, and Ian and I were so delighted at managing to get it working on the computer, we say quite happily and watched 5 minutes of bad video of chickens. The fact that we could have moved our heads 10 degrees and watched them in real time out of the window was not lost on us!!

Our plan for this week is to confirm with the removal company, speak to the vet and get the dogs and Davy injected and then to carry on packing. The buyers survey is on Tuesday so we’ll have a better idea of when we are going to complete later this week.
