Phone back on

Well the phone is now back on. Moral of the story is a/ pay bills and b/ when nice people ring us up from Telefonica they are probably not ringing us up to pass the time of day.

It’s been a warm few days. I had planned for the garden to be a riot of colour. Unfortunately it is just a riot, due to Tinkerbelle pushing plant pots off the wall (trying to get other dogs on the head…) and the fact that I planted Spinach instead of pretty flowers. My one flowering plant which I think is a night scented stock took to being dropped upside down on the pation badly and all its flowers dropped off. But the orange tree is in increasing bloom – hoorah and if there are one tenth of the number of oranges as flowers we will be kept in marmalade for a while. I’ve planted some pots of melons, cucumber and aubergines. Just a bit of a pain watering them. We’ve not found watering cans for sale anywhere. Including the garden store in llerena. Strange….

We went out for a walk earlier today. This is the first time we’ve been out this week, so although Basil hasn’t been too restless, we thought we’d take him out before it got too hot. We timed it badly and co-incided with the school emptying, and Ian looked like the Pied Piper as he walked up the road followed by a gaggle of school children all trying to stroke Basil. The older of the children were practicing their english, they obvioulsy have been taught a few stock phrases of which one was ‘can you tell me where the toilets are please’. Ian took this in his normal happy go lucky way which he has when dealing with youngsters, and was about to start to hyperventalate and throw himself onto the floor in a dead faint to try to rid himself of his little band of followers, but luckily he was able to duck into the house and bolt the door, shutting behind him his (and Basils) fan club.
