Pixie Goes to the Vet (and the Beach)

Pixie has been to the vet to have the dosis of the medication she takes checked. This is from when she lost her fur a few years ago. She was having regular blood tests at our last vet. I thought her behaviour was changing a bit after we moved, and I wondered if it was the move unsettling her, but it didn’t get any better (she was very jumpy), and I remembered the vet before saying that that could be a side effect of the medication not being the right dose, so we took her to be checked.

We stopped at a beach on the way to the vet- She seemed to enjoy the beach!

and it was a day when the see was ‘boiling’

So far most of the things about our move have been positive. However, although the vet we are going to is very nice and they appear efficient and offer good service – I think our days of low cost vet visits are now sadly behind us. We’re paying significantly more for blood tests etc than we were before. We could have vet visits where the cost was less than a euro for just the medication and Antonio would sometimes wave us away without paying – the vets would often give us prescriptions for medication to get from the pharmacia rather than giving us special ‘animal’ medication (ie tablets flavoured with chicken) as it was always much cheaper to get from the pharmacy (Spanish medicine is comparatively very low cost). But at least we have good vets to hand and they are in Burela which is closer than we were going in Zafra.

This is a photo of when Pixie had the hair loss – they ‘think’ it was/is her thyroid, but they weren’t sure. It took quite a long time to get a diagnosis and they tried lots of things. But her hair grew back after she started taking medication but the vet wasn’t sure if this was a coincidence.
