Rats

We had a rat attack in the stable and it killed Bandy Legs. Luckily it did not or could not get to the baby rabbits. So of course the rabbits have now been moved back from their runs where they have been able to play together and into their hutches, well, Crumps and babies are in their hutch, the other three are in the downstairs toilet (wonder how many animals we have had living in their so far) as the quails broke the other hutch (not bad going for little birds) so Ian has to mend that hutch and we will put the other rabbits into there. The quails are currently not under the bed (note to mother) and are living in the dog carry cage until I sort out a new house for them, as they all managed to squeeze out of the last temporary house I made them. They really need something with a house and a run so they can wander outside and get day light which they need before they will start laying. Trouble is we have been just too busy to build something, but it is on the project list.

Poor Bandy Legs, however we had agreed that his leg was not getting any better and he was going to have to be ‘dispatched’ – just not like by a rat.

Evie is still rolling over, but can get herself up and also can get onto her back legs. Hopefully she will be up properly soon. They are not putting on weight so I have started buying them cheap bread when I see it, and also lettuces for them to nibble.

We’ve got another ram lamb back inthe stable. I think it is Tiny’s brother. Don’t know how he got in with Debbies sheep, but he is in solitary confinement again.

Started on a face lift for the kitchen, nothing major, just a lick of paint and we’re making curtains to replace the doors as they will not show up the uneven tops like the doors do.

I ‘plucked’ a rabbit last night as it was starting to shed it’s wool. Got 17 gs! Enough for an egg cosy.
