Manuel is starting on the roof tomorrow. He said 8 o clock, but not sure whether that’s with or without the clock change. He came round on Friday and pointed out how the roof of my workshop is now bowing inwards. Apparently this has happened with a lot of roofs in the village because of the snow. It was the first time that they’ve had as much snow as we had this year (which wasn’t very much – but if you’ve been used to none, even a little seems a lot). The weight of the snow has made some of the wooden beamed roofs bow. Most roofs have a very slight gradient, which is where a lot of the problem has been caused. I’m looking forward to Manuel starting, he plans to have the tiles off my workshop, and the new beams on and the roof sprayed with an insulation thing next week, and says the workshop will be usable after that, as they will be working on the outside of the roof.
We trimmed Bob and Henry last week, have to do the others today. But since then, Bob has been really miserable. If he doesn’t brighten up we’re going to take him to the vet. He’s got a scratchy patch on his neck, which is why we trimmed him first, and we’ve put his coat on him to stop him scratching, but this happens two or three times a year and he’s never normally this miserable.
Need to decide what we’re going to do with the chickens next week when Manuel starts. They think that humans exist solely to bring them food, so Manuel might find being greated by a band of fluffy chickens everytime he goes out the back for cement a tad wearing after a while…!
