It was the patron saint of Burela’s celebration at the weekend. Rather than parading the saint around the town, instead the saint was taken out to sea with fishing boats and little sailing craft following it. I think the Saint is the saint of fishing people.
A mass was held at the port in the building which is behind the boat in the video below. While the mass was going on, the fishing boats were floating around sounding their horns – I guess to hurry the priest along.

The saint was then taken from the port building to a fishing boat where it led the procession out to sea.

I’m not sure how far out to sea it went, but when we were going home we could see them on the horizon

What was interesting was to see the fishing boats close up – and it was quite fun to see the fishing boats which we normally see when they are at sea working and get an idea of their size. It was also interesting to see that they were equipped in different ways, I guess for different types of fishing.
This one, O Cantino, is the biggest in the port, and it was clear that it had a ramp at the back, I imagine for dragging up the nets, which the other boats didn’t have.

Gate

The gate and fence is very nearly finished. Here’s Dumpling ignoring it!
