Semana Santa and Sam has a Fit

This week is Semana Santa. I thought it was last week so I cancelled classes thinking it was Semana Santa which promptly confused everyone. Given that it is a late Easter this year I can appreciate why many of the parades start at midnight. Hulking a great big jesus statue around under a big wooden carrier would get pretty hot work if it happened earlier in the day.

Sam had a fit on Thursday. This is his first for a very long time. Since his rabies vaccination which must have been a year ago. There was no reason that we could see for it so I guess it is just one of those things. It certainly wasn’t too bad and I think that he felt that the couple of sausages he was given after he came round were a nice surprise!

We’ve not been asparagussing much this year. We’ve been so busy with getting the new site launched plus catching up on our other work that we’ve only been a couple of times. A shame really as this is one of our favorite spring things – but to make up for it we have picked some asparagus when we’ve been walking the dogs in the morning and had that for breakfast, which appears quite decadent! I have dusted my bike off and been out for a few quick rides before tea. It’s perfect bike riding conditions, warm but not hot and not too dusty. Hopefully we’ll head off for a bike ride and asparagus picking trip at some point before the season ends, which is something we had been looking forward to.

I have some more ghost writing work this week. This time I am writing captions for photos in a book. It is for the same publisher that I did the last work for so hopefully this means that they were happy with what I did. I have to turn it round by Thursday and I also have an audiobook review to do for then too, so if we go to any parades this week I guess it won’t until later in the week.

Rosie has been teething. I had noticed spots of blood and couldn’t work out what they were, but it turned out that they were from Rosie’s mouth from where her puppy teeth were coming out. At one stage I was a little concerned as she had both her puppy and the start of her adult canines which made her look a little toothy. However I notice now that her puppy canines have all fallen out and her adult canines appear to be coming through fine. Rosie is actually turning into a very nice dog. Even for a five month old puppy she is well behaved and she is able to regulate her play so she can play well with the others without bullying or over powering them. She plays a lot with Sam which is nice to see. I think Wilbur was good for her, I just wish she would learn how to drink from him. Wilbur drinks by making a little spoon with his tongue and scooping up little bits of water. The doggy equivalent of drinking from fine bone china with his little finger stuck out. Rosie, however, drinks by submerging her whole head in water and alternately glugging water and blowing bubble, emptying with water bowl and then dripping everywhere!
