Still Hot

The vet came round today to give the dogs their rabies shots. This was interesting for a number of reasons. Firstly, we hadn’t realized that we are supposed to carry their passports when ever we are out with them. This is so if they bite someone we can prove that they won’t get rabies! Extremadura doesn’t have rabies, so they only need vacinations every two years. However if we take them to say, Andalucia, they would need a vaccination every two years.

Sam’s not due for his until January, we thought about getting him done now so he was on the same cycle as the others, but then we also wondered about whether this injection was something that might trigger his fits. He has not had a seisure now for 7 or so months, and if he follows the same pattern as last year, they may start again in September. So if we don’t inject him now and his fits start, we’ll know that it was nothing to do with them, however if he fits don’t start now but they do after his vaccination then perhaps there is a connecting factor here.

I was horrified to find out that I had odd shoes on. One bright orange croc and one purple croc. I think that the vet put it down to wacky english style!

The vet was really happy when he saw Henry’s eye. ‘estupendo’, he said, in fact!

I got an email from another English couple we know here, asking about our air conditioner and how we get on with it. We bought it a couple of years ago and while it is a little like sitting in a room with a train in it, it does work! Anyway she commented that people find it hard to believe that instead of enjoying the ‘lovely sun’ we all spend our time hidden away in the gloom, only to reappear at night – how very true!

Our house looks like there’s been some terrible accident, as the animals all lie on their backs with their legs in the air. Even the cats. More than once I’ve gone to poke a cat to see if it’s ok!

We’ve got some temporary doors on the bedrooms and bathroom. The door workshops are shut for August so the carpenter has put some temporary ones on for when Ed and Emma are here. The proper ones should arrive first week in Sept, which – depending on how they define first week in Sept ie first full week or week with the first in it – will be when E&E are here. So that will be fun!
