We had a big storm at the weekend. There were high winds, high waves and lots of rain (which is actually a good thing – our well water supply has dried up so we are hoping that the rain will get that going again).
The beaches were closed, along with the paths that are close to the sea.

The waves seemed quite high – but perhaps not as high as we were expecting. We could see lots of waves crashing by the headland opposite.
We went along the road a bit to see the waves by the rocks which is always very wavy and when we first saw it, we knew exactly where the expression ‘boiling sea’ comes from.
We seemed to miss the worst of it though, as trees had fallen closing roads further inland. There was a feria on that we had hoped to go to, but we didn’t go because of the weather. It was a horse feria, which I guess would be like a horse market, where people come from all over Spain to buy and sell horses. There’s a parade of 600 horses – some of which go into the Cathedral – so it would have been quite interesting to see, perhaps we’ll get to it next year.
But now it is the calm after the storm – for a while anyway…
And just because it makes me smile – a photo of Horace! This is probably the most common view we have of him – a little nose sticking out from under the duvet!
