We have bought a stove. We bought it on Ebay for 150 euros (110 pounds or so) and we’re really pleased with it. It the enamel needs a good clean and the metal is rusty. We’re not sure where it will go – either living room or kitchen. Anyway – imagine how delighted we were when we were researching how to clean up enamel stoves and found this CLICK HERE . After seeing that we rushed out to the barn to wrap ours in cotton wool! We need to fit new mica, as there is just metal behind the windows and it needs a new fire brick at the back, but apart from that the enamel is in fine condition and all the bits work.
We had the carpenter round this week too. This was a little disappointing. This was for the internal doors and he showed us brochures of lovely doors – all beautiful wooden doors – but just not us. We said we wanted our existing ones renovated and the carpenter thought we were mad as, for not a lot more, we could get all new. Ian explained that he liked old things that were a bit tatty around the edge, but full of character. I didn’t like the way that they both looked at me.
