Summer’s Arrived

At long last the summer seems to have arrived – the weather the past week has been lovely and the farmers have started harvesting. The field is starting to get filled with the mounds of grain that we have noticed in previous summers. We did think that we were going to have to make an SOS call one night last week as we found Gunks in the drain at the back of the house, she had got up there and couldn’t remember how to get down, and all we saw were legs and a little catty face poking out as she kept turning around. Luckily she remembered how to get down before we had to try and find a ladder.

We’ve put the cover on our sun shade – again. This is the third time this year, hopefully it will be there to stay this time! We’ve also made some sides for it out of sheets so it keeps it reasonably cool and also shaded at all times of day.

I noticed that the kiwi fruit trees appeared to be looking sorry for themselves, however they are actually a climbing plant, so they are not wilting, just looking for something to climb up. We appear to have a baby melon growing too – and three figs on our fig tree. What a harvest we will have!

In case anyone is wondering what’s been happening over in the world of rubber stamping the list below is May’s ‘highlights’. Being poorly for a few days really knocked me back, and as I had 20 loathsome articles to write for another website plus the crochet hook consultancy that I regretted saying I’d do, I feel that I’ve been constantly chasing my tail.
