He is SO improved that I am now regretting not buying him a lead to match his collar. Although, all things considered, I guess he won’t worry too much being taken out for a walk with a lead that doesn’t match his collar. He may not be happy going for a walk as he is obviously very comfortable here, but he won’t be familiar with the smells outside.
I bought him a sling instead of a lead, as I thought we’d have to carry him a lot more. I thought he may be a little locked away in his own world and had thought I may need to take him out in a sling where he could sense different things, however now he is increasingly mobile, he can happily take himself for a wander or a sniff round the patio.
We’re now trying to understand his hearing a little better. We know he can hear some things – for instance the fridge door opening at tea time! However other times we know he can hear us, however he can’t orientate himself to the noise. We’re trying to work out if this is worse inside or out. Inside, he may have problems as sound bounces around the house. He probably has more hearing than Bob, who is now completely deaf.
We haven’t taken Herbie down to Pepes yet – although we will do so as they have been asking about him (word gets around quickly in this village!). I think he will be a hit down there too – however I guess he may not get his photo taken…
