The sun always shine on the righteous…

…so what does the fact it rains practically every fiesta tell us! After MONTHS without rain, we had rain for the first time at about 11 pm on Friday, just as the fiesta to celebrate Mary, mother of all pain and sorrows, was about to kick off. The weather remained bad until half-past eight yesterday morning, when the brass band headed around the village to ensure that fiesta goers had plenty of time to wake up and to get ready for church. Given that the fiesta officially ends at 7.30 in the morning, and the brass band starts clattering round the village an hour later, I can’t help thinking the priest is having a bit of a laugh at this point.

The weather stayed sunny for the procession, only to go overcast again later.

The schools start back this week, the swimming pool has closed and there’s a feeling of summer coming to an end again – even though the temperatures are still in the 30s.

We missed the terrible storms that hit a lot of Spain last week. It seems like this year we missed both the heatwave of earlier in the summer and the storms of last week.

Wilbur is so much better now. When it’s a little cooler, I plan to take him for short walks to build his strength back up.

Here’s a picture of Daisy. She must be pretty much full grown now. While she is a waterdog, she doesn’t have any waterdog type tendencies. If Rosie sees a puddle she tries to get in it, but Daisy just ignores it. I’ve seen photos of other waterdogs jumping and playing in water, but Daisy has no interest. She also doesn’t seem to have a ‘fetch’ instinct. Yesterday Ian and I took her out with a frisbee – which resulted in Ian throwing the frisbee while I ran for it and visa versa, while Daisy sat and watched!
