Many of the parades are in the evening and overnight, to ensure it’s not too hot for the people taking part.
There’s been some controversy in Llerena as some women wanted to take part in carrying the statues, but were told they couldn’t – they had to get their own Mary and Jesus if they wanted to play.
Last week was the last of Charlie’s having-to-rest period. Although I don’t think we did a very good job of keeping her calm – much easier said than done. She needs to get some strength in that leg now, but I don’t think it will take her long to get back to full bounciness.
Horace seems to be coming out of himself more and more. Eating with the big dogs has been good for him as he does pick up that something is going on. While he’s still amazingly ssssssllllllooow at eating and can get distracted quickly, he’s getting on much better and feels quite solid now.
He had one little set back when he fell into a pile of leaves. The combination of falling off the step, becoming disorientated and the crunchiness of the leaves sent him into one of his little panics, but it wasn’t too bad and he scurried into his ‘safe’ area and quickly came round.
Not really too much else to report. We’ve been out asparagusing a few times. It’s been a good year so far and we’ve done well with our picking. Now the pins are out of Charlie’s leg and Pirata’s ear is healed, we haven’t had any trips to the vet for a couple of weeks. Long may that continue!
