We have created a monster (or two)

Well, another few days of fighting sheep off. Freckles and BK are the worst – but they are not alone. The Herdies are also gathering round the front door when they see the lights go on in the morning. However only Freckles sticks her nose through the cat-flap baaing and BK is getting worrying close to being able to open the front door.

Poorly quail seems to be getting better. Lady quails are very unpleasent and rather evil – at least I think that this is a case of severe hen pecking. Still no eggs since I cleaned them out. I shall start talking about selling them again – that generally does the trick!

It snowed yesterday. Quite a lot for a while but was slushy on the ground. We went to Upfront Gallery the otherside of Penrith. I am going to see them about my jewellery and we wanted to do a bit of a reccy first. On the way we commented how we were quite happy going across Cumbria yesterday – however if it had been a Monday morning and work was beckoning I wonder if we would have been looking outside and tutting.

We went to the OCG gallery in Ambleside on Saturday, and I am glad that we did as this was one of my galleries that is on my ‘asprirational’ list. However having gone, although I will still approach them I won’t be disappointed if they don’t see me. They now have a seperate jewellery shop, and it was quite disappointing as everything was very samey (brushed white gold or silver). Ian said if you were to take it all out of the cabinets it would be impossible to say which was which. There were a few different things though – including the lady who made the ring that Ian gave me a few years ago with the laundary stamp on it. I’ll leave them on my list of people to contact but maybe later in the year.

Driving through the Lake District mountains we could see Herdwicks high in the mountains, braving the elements for a whisper of grass. Did ours ever live wild? First sign of rain and they snuggle up behind the oil tank – assuming they can’t get in the house.

We had someone due to see the house on Saturday, but when they came round they didnt’ want to proceed as we were too far away from a pub. Obvioulsy a drunkard and didn’t deserve our house.

The lady who is looking after the horses bought her son with her yesterday and when I looked out the window he was having his picture taken with Basil.

They are pressing on with the cycleway and it should be finished in a couple of weeks. I have agreed that they will do some screening which will have the double benefit if providing some screening of the sewerage works from the house. We’ve stopped seeing it now, but need to remember that it is a blot on the landscape to the unsuspecting.

After Bobs mid-night tapping we were distressed to find that there is a mouse or something up under the roof which at about 3.30 in the morning appears to rearranging the loft space.

Well, Valentines day so must get on with Ians six course dinner, or perhaps pot noodle.

PS The model is Ians mannequin lady who we’ve been lugging around since he left Bristol. Jim and Viv – I expect you had the pleasure of her under your loft for a while too…!
