Green

After months of waiting one of my cotton buds finally opened. It was one of the green cotton plants and I was amazed to see how green the cotton really was. I was expecting it to be a light murky green, however it is really quite a bright green. I should also have had brown and long egyptian cotton too, however it looks like this is the sum total of my cotton harvest this year. However, seeing how green the green cotton is, I shall definitely try the green and brown again next year as it will be fun to spin with. Rosie was showing a suspicious amount of interest in the cotton. I’m not sure what she thought it was, but she was definately fascinated.

It is raining today. The first time it has rained for ages. It has been very dusty, I think it is exacerbated by the fact that the farmers are ploughing fields, which are dry, and this is creating more dust. So hopefully the rain will dampen this down a bit. We’ve closed the windows today, for the first time this autumn. The weather has been lovey but the rain is bringing the temperature down.  I can tell it is getting cooler as there are piles of puppies snuggled up with a cat or two joining in.

Yesterday’s picture of me gazing gormlessly into the camera was to celebrate Ed and Emma’s wedding. They got married at 10 and asked if we could take a picture of ourselves toasting them. Instead of having floral button holes, Emma and Ed had badges made with one of Ian’s photos of a flower on them. They sent us the badges so we could wear them in the photo. We’ll be seeing them later this week, so hopefully the rain will have stopped.
