Wow – it was three year’s ago that we found Sam. It was actually three years ago tomorrow that we picked him up, but it was three years ago today that I saw him in the street and I was worried about him. I had Bob and Petal with me and Sam wouldn’t come to me, so I asked Ian to come up and take him away from the road, however Ian couldn’t see him. It was the next day that we found him injured by the side of the road.
He had obviously been living rough for a long time before he came to us. Surprising what a difference three years make as I don’t think now he would sit on anything that didn’t have several layers of padding or sleep on anything that wasn’t a bed. However when he first came here, he looked at everything with suspicion and would get off the blanket we put down for him to purposely sit on the hard floor.
I remember this as it was Constitution Day which is a public holiday and Constitution Day is today. Wednesday is the day of the Immaculate Conception which is also a public holiday so things have slowed down on the kitchen. However it is looking pretty good so far.
The weather has been really odd this last few days. It is actually very warm, although it is raining. The wind must be coming up from Africa and it is noticeably warmer outside than it is inside – in fact, had it not be raining we could easily have had breakfast outside wearing just t-shirts. However we have had a lot of rain, and this looks like it’s going to continue for a while.
