Gruesome Ants

Quite honestly, I don’t think that there is anything more gruesome than ants. After seeing them dismember a lizard earlier this year, there is little that would surprise me.

After the flying ant hayhem of yesterday, today we found a little pile of what looked like bits of blackberries by the back door. On closer inspection it was a pile of bits of dead flying ants that normal ants had dismembered, plied up and were in the process of taking down their ant hole.

Yet again, I was reminded how glad I am that they are the size they are. I honestly don’t fancy our chances if they were our size.

Talking of not fancying our chances, we are in the middle of a battle of the wills with the chickens as the moment who are certain that the new garage is their new chicken house. Admittedly, it was earlier in the year, however it is now where we park the car. I’m not certain that I fancy our chances on winning this battle either, as chickens can be remarkably determined when they put their minds to it – although happily they don’t seem to have the intellect of ants – I could otherwise imagine the car being taken to pieces and piled up somewhere else!
