Shrivelled Olives

Last Sunday we went for a walk and commented on some olive trees that we saw with tiny olives. We were musing as to whether these were a special type of olive. However it transpires that they are normal olives but the lack of rain has stopped them growing properly.

While it has rained this autumn, it’s really not done so very much. We had a downpour a couple of months ago when we were watching the roof of my work shop, but nothing really since. We had some red strawberries a couple of weeks ago from our strawberry plant, however I don’t know if this is normal or a reflection of the odd weather.

Oh yes, broody hen is no longer broody. The drastic action of shutting her out of her nest seemed to work. She forgot almost straight away to be broody! In the spring we’ll let them hatch chicks, but it really wouldn’t be fair to let them have chicks now.
