Having been moaning about the cold, yesterday we were moaning because it was too hot! We went for a walk in the afternoon and it was a beautiful day. We went the other side of the main road for quite a long way where there is a bull farm. We could see the bulls in the distance and would not want to get too close to them! The flowers are just starting to come out, daisy s have been around all winter, however more and more are starting to bloom. One thing we do like about it here is that we can take a walk in any direction and see different countryside. Our new favorite walk is passed a ruin. Locals won’t walk down this lane as it is haunted (we found out lately), the husband was found down the well – dead, and his wife denied his disappearance for a while. Apparently she is still in prison which suggests this might not have been this long ago.
The last time I did that walk on my own, a sheep was laying in the path – forcing me into the haunted house, which resulted in me climbing a wall on the other side of the path to get away from scary sheep and haunted houses.
We’ve been drawing up a list of things we need to get for the house. One day next week we are going to go to Badajoz to look at bathrooms and tiles and things. We are going to reuse as many tiles as possible, the builder is going to take all the times off the hallway, retile and then put them back up – but this time the right way round. We’d never noticed but our flowers are pointing down! He’s also going to sort out our dent in the backroom floor, again, taking up the tiles, repairing the floor and replacing the tiles. We’re going to take the scrubby plastic cladding off the back room too, and this will be tiled. Ian and I were in two minds about getting this tiles – but we’ve decided to take the advice of our builder as he has a lot more knowledge of local conditions than us. He said as we are having a stove in this room it will help stop the plaster rotting with condensation. It will also help if we flood again (although if we get the guttering done that won’t be so much of a flood). We’ll look for second hand tiles. I did thinking about making some, particularly when I saw the price of handmade tiles, but I don’t think it will be feasible.
and this week we might definitely have a quote for windows………
