A new supermarket has opened in llerena. It is called Plus and is a German chain I think, with roots in eastern Europe. I say that because the languages on the packs of food include polish, hungarian, rumanian… This is the first ‘international’ supermarket in Llerna and while it offers some new foods – fresh brown bread, german sausages, different cheeses, vegetable sandwiches (shame that the first veggie sandwiches we have found are so close to home) and Ian was impressed to see frozen kebabs!
Still no baked beads, orange lentils, sesame seeds, cottage cheese, brown sauce, peanut butter, picallili… but some interesting new things.
We’ve got mixed feelings. When we went, the store was full of people just staring at the shelves. People were looking at the sausages with wonder!! For many, this would be the first time that some of these items had been seen in a supermarket. So good in some ways, but sad in others.
We’ve popped into the indoor market in Llerena earlier and bought a jar of goats cheese. this is the strongest cheese I have ever eaten and we have had it at other people’s houses but this is the first time we have found some. A teaspoon is plenty. I’m looking forward to lunch….
